Not sure who I'm welcoming back exactly. Me or you?
It sure has been a while. Man, I sound like your old high school friend trying to make polite converation. This just goes to show that this writing thing takes work. It doesn't come naturally all the time.
This is also what happens when I spend my days writing technical documents. The creativity gets sucked out of me.
Well, enough of this I say. Time to move on and get busy. After all I have a novel to write - particularly since I plan on winning the Booker Prize.
The idea of writing a novel is much more appealing than the actual act of writing a novel. Writing a novel sets one up for failure on so many levels. But I must be wrong. Check out your local Chapters or Powells - there are a lot of novels and a lot of writers. So I really must be wrong about the whole failure thing.
Not that I'm afraid of failure - just not that comfortable at it. Like most people I enjoy doing things I know I can excel at. It is time to put myself in uncomfortable situations.
About Powells. Ever been to one? I haven't - I'd love to. As close as I get is the wonderful Powells web site and newsletter. One day I'd like to a trip to the United States, in no particular order these are the places I want to check out: Powells (any location will do), New York City, the Grand Canyon, Boulder, CO, Las Vegas and Mount Rushmore.
If anyone has a novel idea for a novel let me know. I'm accepting all submissions and yes you can enter as many times as you want.
If you are looking for something totally cool, check out this site: email mystery. Here is the synopsis from the site:
The Daughters of Freya is not a book; it's a 'real-time' email mystery delivered straight to your inbox
The story is told through emails exchanged between Samantha and the other characters. But instead of reading these emails in a book, they’ll be delivered straight to your inbox, just as if the characters have copied you on the emails they are sending to each other.
You'll receive a few emails at random times every day over the three weeks that it takes for the mystery to unfold. You won’t be able to turn the page to find out what happens next ... you’ll have to wait for the next email to arrive.
Until next time, chill out and feel free to send me your ideas.
