This is the color of the day. Yep, it is Valentine's Day. Yes, it is primarily a commercial holiday. Designed for you to sooth any guilt you may have with a stunning diamond bracelet or snazzy new cell phone. Whatever. Don't listen to the skeptics. Take what you want from this day. Commercial or not.

It is Thursday. Enjoy it. Hug the person you love. Smile at strangers. Think kind thoughts to those who rub you the wrong way. It is worth it. Besides, it's Valentine's Day.

I kicked off my Valentine's Day with a ride on the trainer. I watched Eastern Promises. This is the Viggo Mortensen movie about the Russian mafia. Excellent film. Some serious violence. But not violence which I found to be misplaced overly gratuitous. If you find yourself at the video store, I recommend this flick.

What's on deck for the rest of the day? A haircut. Hooray. My hair is a disaster. So long. I know, to most it is not long. But when you have been blessed (cursed) with poker straight and thick hair. Short is the only way to go. Hair like mine does not work well with curling irons or perms. Nope, it seems to only work well with gel.

After the glorious haircut, I'll be hooking up with my pals Lex and Gerry. Lex is the publisher, editor, and brain behind the CheapEats books. The CheapEats Ottawa book was launched yesterday. A very handy guide to eating well and eating cheap in this city of ours. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Not much else going on. The usual Thursday activities (i.e. work). Sigh, and no Grey's... Soon, I hope.

Have a great Valentine's Day. Have a great Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. So this is a very very good thing. For some of you it will also be the start of the long weekend. Feb. 18 is Family Day in Ontario. (For some...)
