Nothing quite like home. The warm entrance. The cuddly grey cat. The comfy chairs. The chaos we left behind on Friday... Felt great to make it in last night and be greeted by the comforts of our home.
We had a great weekend in Vermont. We made the trip down with our good friends for some cyclo-cross racing and chillaxing. Easy drive down. Course evaluation in the rain on Friday. Grocery store. Hotel. Tasty stew and much laughter.
Saturday and Sunday were consumed with racing. Lots of cyclo-cross racing. Had a great time at Catamount park in Vermont - working the pits for Marc, cheering on Marc and Steve, chillaxing with the Ottawa crew and then racing myself. I was fortunate to have a couple of good races. Some of my best results ever. Nice sign of things to come. Mucho thanks to Steve and Marc for helping me dial in the race courses. Thanks to the gang of three for putting up with my "race stress".
Sunday after my race we hit the road stopping in Burlington at Moe's. Definitely worth it. Super tasty tacos and burritos. Then we hit the plaza for a little shopping. I indulged myself and bought two books - both hardcover! You know me - I'm cheap but I felt like a reward for the racing and I was feelng a little rich with my prize money puffing up my wallet.
I bought a sports psych book and the latest Stephanie Pearl-McPhee knitting book: Free-range Knitter. We are recovered from the weekend. In a super impressive feat of efficiency, we unpacked, did the laundry, and got decluttered as soon as we got in. Murphy was as shocked as we were!
I've posted full race reports and more details about the racing over at my other site: Ottawa Cross.
Just settling in here to "regular" life - got some vanilla almond tea brewing. Big grey cat sitting on the desk. CBC radio blaring in the background. Ya, life is good. This week highlights some new CBC radio programs - I'll be sure to give you my reviews... On the knitting front - no knitting action this weekend. But I will get the secret project completed by tomorrow night. I've got some other projects brewing.
Okay, well I'm out. Hope you had a good weekend. Fall is really here. Time to break out the down vests, long-sleeve shirts and some comfy warm socks. Maybe even a toque?
