Today is brought to you by the letter "B". Over at XY x2, there is a cool meme: comment on this post and I’ll give you a letter. List ten things you LOVE which begin with that letter, then post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.
So I got the letter B. Here goes:
Brother: my little brother is top on my list of things I love. He is my inspiration. Truly a guy who goes after his dreams and lives his life with his heart on his sleeve. To top it all off - he is getting married on Saturday!
Bikes: yes I love bikes. All types of bikes. All kinds of biking. In fact biking really helps define who I am. I met my husband through biking. Most of my friends ride bikes. As a family we used to go on "bike rides" in the evening in our little town of Nipawin. As a teenager, my mom sewed me some red spandex bike shorts and I used to wear these proudly as I biked the 10 km. from Nipawin to Codette - on the highway without a helmet! Me love bike.
Baked Goods: I am weak in the face of baked goods. I crave baked goods. Give a muffin, piece of banana bread, a cinnamon roll. Anything baked - I'll eat it. I'm into baked goods so much that I'll even ignore my number one rule of splurging "must contain chocolate". I could eat a baked good right now. I used to bake a lot of muffins and banana bread - but I simply ended up eating it all - I lack will power. So for me, baked goods are a massive treat.
Butter: okay, I'm not a fan of butter per se. But it does make me think of my childhood. We consumed a lot of butter in our house. No sandwich was complete without butter (including peanut butter sandwiches). It took me a while to convince my parents that peanut butter and butter just don't work together. A sandwich made with butter, mayonaise, Kraft singles, sliced ham, tomato slices, and cracked wheat bread really makes me think of home. Butter and mustard on one sandwich - ever tried it?
Bush: no not George W. I'm talking the band. I'm totally grooving to Bush right now. I just downloaded the entire Bush discography. Loving it. Some intelligent lyrics. Everything Zen and Glycerine are just so smooth.
Boulder, Colorado: I've never been to Boulder. But I really want to go. I've read a lot about Boulder. It looks and sounds awesome. It is on my list of places to visit. I'm not sure what the attraction is - fresh air, mountains, outdoor lifestyle (all the marketing material with tanned and fit people sitting at cafes having a mid-way stop during their bike rides). Anyway, I want to go. In fact at one point I even looked into the housing market in Boulder and job possibilities...
Belgium: ah, Belgium - how I miss you. I can't wait to go back. I heart Belgium. The people. The countryside. The lifestyle. The weather (yes, it rains but it is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be). The bike racing. Everything. I'd move there. In fact Marc and I seem to talk about moving to Belgium weekly. We are going back to Belgium very soon. In fact today we are looking into flights. Oh, can't forget the baked goods in Belgium - simply the best. A trip to the bakery is an exercise in willpower for me - I often go with onl exact change for a loaf of bread.
Books: along with biking I think books really define me. I love to read. I like to look at books. If I'm bored, I'll head out to my local bookstore to simply "look" at books. I like to read web sites about books. I'm always reading a book and typically have a pile of "to be read" books on the floor next to the bed. Books can't live without them.
Boxes: little known fact about me: as a kid/teenager, I used to collect boxes. Not cardboard boxes. Rather small, ornate, cool boxes. My grandmother used to collect boxes as well. It was a way for us to connect. I had quite a few very cool boxes - most purchased at antique shows and flee markets. I don't know what happened to my box collection - I think I told my mom to give them away. Sometimes a little box will catch my eye. But now my practical side kicks in and I put the box back on the store shelf.
Blue: blue is my favorite color. I really like blue. I could wear it everyday. But I don't. Blue is my color. Not sure why I like it so much. Just do. Blue it is.
So there you have it, my things that start with B. Thanks Mel for the the meme. This is the first time I've participated in a meme. Very cool.
Oh, if you want to participate - post up in the comments and I'll send you a letter.
Bye-bye.
It's funny how this meme highlights the things we have in common. I had to agree with Mel on sleep, Sweet Child, and Snow, and I'm with you on butter, baked goods, books, boxes (yes, I used to collect them too!), and blue. Now, what's my letter? (Just not B - you took all mine!)

It is curious to discover how much we do have in common. I felt the same when I read Sleepwalker's list.
Hmm, I think that Heather, your letter should be: M. I wonder if you'll guess why I chose the letter for you? I debated between: M, P, and F. But M it is!

I'm glad you liked the meme, Vicki. I have the same problem with baked goods - I can't resist them so I try not to keep them in the house. And I've been obsessed with books since before I could read!

Those baked goods - somehow they seem to go hand-in-hand with books. Nothing like a perfect slice of warm banana bread, a mug of earl grey tea, and a good book.
Mel, if you want to the meme again, your letter is T.
