What started out as pretty mellow and quiet Wednesday, ended up becoming action-packed and rather busy. Seems like there was a moment of pure peace and calm. I was chilled out on the couch reading and then the next thing I knew, a buzzer went off in my brain and things switched to being rather chaotic. Wasn't one thing in particular. Just lots of little "jobs" that had to get done. This is always the way isn't it?
Did have a good day though. Just much busier than I would have liked. Got out for an excellent ride at Floreal Lichtaart. So awesome to zoom around on the cylco-course there. It was super fast yesterday since the ground is frozen solid here. Makes for some fast descending and even faster corners. Cool, just what I need to take my learning up another notch. Rode around with Marc for a bit and then tried to keep up with Marc, Bert and the other fast masters. A great day on the bike. I didn't push things hard at all as I was told to take things easy. So I did. I've got to keep the big picture in mind.
Interesting how everything really does come down to perspective. For some people, the racing this weekend is the pinnacle of their season. For others, it happened a few weeks ago. For me, it is still coming. I've still got lots of racing, training, and learning to do before this season is in the books. Lucky me.
One of the highlights of my day was meeting Jos's mom. I had spoken to Jos's mom (Kathleen) on the phone before and I knew that she reads my blog, but I'd never met her. So it was super awesome to hang out with Jos and Kathleen last night. We looked at Google Maps and I showed them where I was born, showed them where we used to live in Uranium City, even used Google Street View to show them our house in Ottawa. Pretty cool. It was a great night. Lots of gabbing about biking and life. Perfect.
We now have six of us at the house. Getting close to capacity. Next week, two more people will arrive and we'll be full to the max for a while. Then once the Christmas racing is over, thing settle again until the Canadian invasion at the end of January...
I'm really getting into my latest book: Last Night in Twisted River. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. One of those books I really don't want to put down. I've also loaded the latest eBook from Seth Godin onto my eBook Reader. This document/book is worth a read. If you can take one piece of inspiration from it, it will have been worth it. And you don't need an eBook Reader to read it - it is published in PDF. Anyway, go download it. Read it. Ponder it. Let me know what you think.
Alright, speaking of reading. Time to go. I've got a nice mug of Earl Grey tea here and my book is calling my name. Happy Thursday!
