Well not sure how or where to start this. Long story short - went into the hospital on August 9 for a colonoscopy to see what was going on with my ulcerative colitis flare... Well, I was just discharged on Monday August 20...
What initally was going to be a couple of days kept on extending and extending. Some tough times in that place. I'm not healed and I'm not in remission but I'm home. Funny thing going into the hospital and then coming out of it feeling worse than when I went in.
This period has been super stressful on Marc and my family - so to those of you that knew about our situation - many thanks for the calls, emails, visits, etc. All are very much appreciated.
Now my focus is on getting healthy. I'm on Prednisone now and hoping this drug might help kickstart some healing. I'm sticking to a low residue diet (so the juicer has been put away...).
I'm going through lots of strange emotions these days but soon enough I'll be back to normal. If there is one thing I've learned from 12 days spent in hospital floor with people in rather bad states (was an ICU floor with people who had strokes, heart attacks, etc) - is that we need to take care of ourselves. If you're not healthy or doing your part to live a healthy life and then you get sick, it is even harder to recover from the illness or disease. One of the things my doctors appeared to struggle with is the fact that "I don't look sick" in fact I had doctors tell me this (meanwhile I'm going to the bathroom over 20 times a day...).
It is nice to be home. Sleep in my own bed. Cook some healing foods. I'm going back to work next week and I'm looking forward to catching up with all my pals.
Have a great Tuesday and make sure you get ou there and do something fun. And: Eat Your Vegetables!
